EDITORIAL WORK

 
 
 

As Manager of Digital Engagement for Poets.org, I am responsible for a variety of tasks. These include:

  • Managing digital content presentation for a website with 1M+ monthly visitors, ensuring accessibility, SEO optimization, metadata accuracy, and a seamless user experience in collaboration with developers

  • Analyzing engagement metrics for multiple newsletters (including Poem-a-Day, a high-profile daily poetry newsletter with over 330,000 subscribers) to inform content strategy, optimize performance, and support audience growth

  • Overseeing newsletter content and Mailchimp account performance, balancing audience retention with cost-efficiency to support budget goals

  • Spearheading efforts to grow new and existing social media channels, with a view toward branded video content and the changing content ecosystem at large

  • Collaborating with Marketing and Development departments to leverage content platforms for the purposes of fundraising and brand awareness

  • Directing an ongoing series of literary seminars, taking the lead on both curation and administration

  • Pitching, commissioning, and editing feature essays for American Poets, a bi-yearly print magazine with a total distribution of over 9000 copies

  • Curating written content for publication by selecting standout pieces that align with brand values, editorial voice, and audience interest 

  • Conducting research and drafting author interview questions for a content series focused on new book releases 

  • Developing and documenting streamlined production workflows to improve consistency and efficiency across recurring digital publishing schedules

  • Leading end-to-end production of a daily newsletter, overseeing scheduling, publication, and content quality across platforms including email, CMS, social media, and podcasting channels

  • Training and supervising interns on workflows, editorial standards, and publishing best practices

  • Writing, editing, and fact-checking digital and print content to ensure clarity, accuracy, and consistency with organizational voice and values

  • Producing and editing audio content for a companion podcast, including recording and final mixing
